In case you are wondering what it is, Poke Bowls are raw fish salad started from Hawaii. It is so big in the east coast now, you can see Poke Bowl place popping up everywhere. I tried Poke Bowl for the first time on campus and it wasn’t impressive. I tried for the second time in Cali Love in Toronto and now I am obsessed.
I had one called Excited Bowl on their menu. It consists of black rice, salmon, kimchi, pineapple, cucumber, wasabi peas, and sesame seeds with the house hot sauce on the top. Staffs there scoop each ingredient in front of you, and ask how much you want each of them. At the end, you get to top up with whatever you want that they offer such as wasabi peas, sesame seeds, chill flakes, seaweed, pea shoot sprouts, etc. I put chilli flakes and seaweed on mine.
I really liked my bowl. Salmon was fresh and spicy with kimchi and the house hot sauce and the black rice gives a nutty flavour at the end which I really like. I don’t know if it was rice or salmon, but it was fairly filling. You will certainly feel like you had a meal after. Nutritious and tasty, I highly recommend you all to try their Poke Bowls!
oh and this is another bowl I tried! It’s a vegan bowl called Grateful Bowl.
